This isn't getting to be old news yet, but who knows? However, this might well be the earliest that Elisberg Industries has had 1,000 "unique visitors." (3:55 PM, Los Angeles time.) And as I like to point out, you are all unique, indeed. For starters, you can put up with blatherings about German musicals, let alone by someone who doesn't speak a word of German. And that says a great deal about your kindness -- or patience. Or perhaps your enjoyable of a good circus.
So, for all you Whoo-hoo folks out there -- whoo hoo!

Well, we're back.
That was weird. For a while there this morning, the Elisberg Industries site was down -- sort of. It wasn't loading in a Firefox browser or a Chrome browser. But it was loading with Internet Explorer. I called tech support at the company that handles my domain, and he asked a bunch of question that had nothing to do with the issue. However, once we tracked down the oddity of the issue above, it was clear that the problem couldn't be related to the domain, but rather was something to check with the hosting company. We said a fond goodbye, and I hung up...and before I could find the number for Weebly -- the site was back up. (As you've no doubt noticed...) Hey, perhaps it was the hanging up that did it. The technical term for this is "These things happen." Sorry for the inconvenience. As part of apology and thanks, we'll give each of you fine folks an extra free week of service. Well, Sunday is travel day. Because it's A) a long trip (about 16 hours, I think, with change of plan) and because I think this will be the last chance I get for computer time before I pack things up and go to sleep, I just want to mention that there won't be anything new here for a while. Though do feel free to check in every once in a while to see all the pretty colors.
With that in mind, though, I'll do what I did prior to the trip over, and that's post a couple of things to fill in the time. Some will check them all out at once, while those who like to anticipate will perhaps read just one at a time to spread them out more. And for all I know there will be some who just make it easy on themselves and avoid it all together. Whether I post anything on Sunday after my return, I have no idea at this point. But it's likely. Unless, that is, I collapse with a thud... Auf widersehen. Or as they say in German, "See you soon." Hey, if Time-Warner and CBS can interrupt your service, I figure it's far less a big deal if I do, as well. However, I do want to let you know beforehand that there's going to be a bit of a slight hiccup for the next several days, though mainly today and on the return. The return from what? I'm off again to cover the IFA Berlin technology trade show this afternoon.
IFA is sort of the European equivalent to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. I went last year, and it's quite interesting -- though perhaps even more of a convoluted circus than CES. I'll be posting here from the show and Berlin during the week, though not as much as usual, and probably more about what's going on there, but who knows? I've got a few different things in mind that will hopefully be fun and in the spirit, assuming I can get to them. The additional issue is that it's a 9-hour difference from Los Angeles, so the posting schedule will be totally screwed up. But just know that I will try to post at least something every day. If I can do more, so be it. The only periods that will be tough are the travel days, because it's a very long flight (16 hours with one stop) and then Customs and travel after that. And then there's the whole "jet lag" thingee. However, to fill in at least some of those hours for you fine readers, I prepared a few things in advance, and I'll post them all now. (Depending on how you read this website, you might have come to them already before getting to this. In which case, consider this a belated, after-the-fact explanation. Even though it really came first...) You can read them all at once, or pretend that I'm not really gone at all and go through them one at a time, checking back later for the others! When you're done, check on back. There'll be something starting up soon enough, tomorrow. Just when that will be "tomorrow," I don't have a clue... Auf wiedersehen. A little housecleaning that the management has requested, given the recent influx of new folks around here the past couple of weeks.
Anyone who wanders around the Internet thing and want to follow the goings-on here on other social media outlets, feel free to check in on Facebook at "Robert Elisberg, and on Twitter with the cleverly-named handle of "RobertElisberg." There. The powers-that-be should now be happy, or at least until they go too long without eating. The management of Elisberg Industries is pleased to announce that for the first time since this website began earlier this year, we have passed 1,000 "unique visitors" for a single day! The official expression is, "Woo-hoo!" And it's only 5:30 PM in Los Angeles, so there's still 6-1/2 hours to go.
No fool I, I'm 1,000% certain that the bulk of this is due to the fine Mark Evanier sending folks this way over the article about the Utra-D technology for 3-D TV. So, thanks to the good fellow -- and to the good folks who took his advice and wandered over to these parts. I hope you'll stick around for the festivities, but regardless, thanks for coming back. To be fair to the fine ladies and gents who've put up with this folderol for a long while, Mark has recommended things here in the past, and the attendance never leaped like this. Indeed, we'd been reaching into the 700 and 800s on occasion these days, so I know that a lot of the thanks go to the long-sufferers, as well. Or maybe it was hiring Rabbi Jack Moline as our Senior VP of Telecommunications that did the trick. There's chips and cheese dip in the refrigerator for everyone. Make yourself at home. Who knows? Maybe one day this will be in 3D... |
